Responsibilities

Support students academically in math, English, and homework

Encourage confidence and positive learning habits

Help distribute and organize school supplies when needed

Create a respectful and welcoming learning environment

Safety & Care

The safety and well-being of every child is a top priority at The Lift Project.

All volunteers are required to complete a Vulnerable Sector Check in accordance with Ontario standards before participating. Volunteers receive clear guidance, expectations, and supervision to ensure a safe, supportive, and responsible environment for every child.

Volunteer FAQ

Do I need to be a teacher to volunteer?

No. Volunteers come from many backgrounds, including students, parents, and community members who are confident supporting children academically.

What is the time commitment?

Volunteers typically support one-hour sessions on Saturdays within the three-hour operating window.

What ages will I support?

Students range from Grades 1 to 11. Volunteers are matched based on comfort level and skills.

Is training or guidance provided?

Yes. Volunteers receive clear expectations, guidance and ongoing support throughout their volunteer time.

Are background checks required?

Yes. All volunteer applicants must complete a Vulnerable Sector Check to be eligible to volunteer.
